Overview of Programs and Curriculum

The curricula used for the 2020-2021 school year are:

Worship KidStyle Preschool Curriculum (Bible and Worship Based Curriculum)
FunShine Express Buttercups (Ages 0-36 Months)
FunShine Express Fireflies (Ages 3-5 Years)

Your child will enjoy learning using Fireflies and Buttercups Early Learning Curricula from FunShine Express! This curriculum system is a professionally designed Early Learning program for young children. Lesson plans encompass all areas of a child’s development: language, cognitive, physical, and social. Children learn best through interacting with their environment and FunShine Curriculum activities are designed with that in mind. They will help us prepare your children for a bright future and have fun along the way!

Language and Literacy Development

We ensure all our students either read as a group with their teacher, read on their own, or both! We keep a variety of age and development appropriate books in each classroom and encourage the students to pick up and read through them at their own pace during free play. Our teachers review the alphabet with all students throughout the day and our older students also work on sight words as part of their daily curriculum. From learning to hold writing instruments, to writing their name, to journaling, our students also develop exceptional language arts skills.

Social and Emotional Development

Keeping our class sizes well-sized and within a student-teacher ratio appropriate for each age group, your child is able to receive personalized attention from their teacher while developing his or her social skills and emotional well-being. Using a variety of techniques like team-oriented exercises, individual projects, and free play, our center’s children develop their social skills while also honing their individualism. We feel non-physical and constructive discipline is a crucial part of enhancing a child’s behavior. Our parents, teachers, and administrative staff work together to help our center’s children develop self-control, responsibility, and alternatives to poor behavior.

Physical Development and Wellness

Your child’s physical development is just as important as their cognitive development. This is why we ensure our center’s children spend a portion of their day engaged in physical activity. Not only do we have two outdoor play areas, one for children under four years old and one for our four and five year olds, we also have an indoor activity room with plenty of space from physical activity. All our classrooms have a designated open area to allow plenty of space to stretch and active play stations to keep children moving while learning.

Creative Expression

We believe arts and crafts play an important role in cognitive development. To support this growth function, children have access to arts and crafts every day. Through either structured or free play, they can draw, color, paint, decoupage and more! An additional aspect of creative expression and development which we strive to support: we display artwork in the classrooms and center to foster their sense of accomplishment and confidence.

The Buttercups curriculum is a program for Ages 0 - 36 Months. With lessons covering everything from gross and fine motor skills to music and sensory experiences, these kits consist of new daily lesson plans complete with supplementary elements for each child and plenty of materials to take home! Tailored for the infant and toddler years, this program directly correlates to the program for our 3-5 year old students. This means, even if you have multiple children of varying ages in our center, they will be able to relate and communicate with each other regarding their daily learning experiences!

The Fireflies curriculum is an adaptable program for children ages 3–5 years old. With a focus in research and evidence-based learning, these kits strive to make learning something about which your child will get excited! Each month, new non-repetitive kits will be delivered to the center, complete with supplementary materials, teacher materials, and even coordinated assessments. You will always be up to date and knowledgeable about your child's learning experience thanks to included materials like the Funshine Express monthly educational newsletter (There also is a newsletter for the Buttercups curriculum).
